Asst Liquor Store Manager Job Purpose Assists in the management of the daily operations in the liquor department. Assumes the role of team leader when the department manager is off and performs all managerial tasks accordingly. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs, mindful of merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Monitors and controls supply expenses, manages cash control, sales and cash items and records for the liquor store. Supervises, trains, and develops team members on performance of their job and provides coaching as needed. This is a working management position that requires a balance of physical labor, delegation, team building and leadership, planning, and administrative work. Responsibilities Service: Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated; ensure the department is merchandised per plan and maintained for in-stock conditions; deliver daily conditions that meet company standards for freshness, quality and value; train department associates on inventory/stocking and computer assisted ordering; assist customers in finding or suggesting product selection. Leadership: Promote trust and respect among associates; collaborate, promote teamwork, and communicate information; help establish goals for merchandising, sales and profits; assist in scheduling to ensure tasks are completed with high levels of customer service during peak hours; adhere to all laws and company guidelines. Financial: Complete daily and weekly administrative tasks; maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; report discrepancies; assist in inventory planning and organization; ensure product storage temperatures meet safety guidelines and retain related documentation. Compliance/Safety: Maintain safety, food handling, sanitation and productivity standards; comply with regulatory requirements (FDA/USDA/COOL as applicable); execute recalls and withdrawals; uphold safety programs; identify and report unsafe conditions; report accidents; monitor safety risks and ensure proper PPE and equipment maintenance. Qualifications Required Education: High School / GED Language Requirements: English; Spanish (preferred) Relevant Experience: Supervisory Experience 0-3 yrs (minimum) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be 21 years of age; Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain; successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check; strong customer service and interpersonal skills; effective communication; basic math; ability to handle stressful situations; proficiency with department computer applications. Environmental Factors: Retail environment with physical demands; ability to stand/walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied conditions; safety equipment use as required. Travel/Shift: None travel; Varied shifts, including 3-4 evening shifts per week.
