Chena Hot Springs Resort is looking for an experienced Musher to join our Dog Yard Crew as Manager. This is an extremely physically demanding position and heavy lifting and constant movement are expected daily.

The Manager will be expected to lead the team and ensure the following tasks are done daily:

• Feed 80+ dogs twice a day
• Water 80+ dogs
• Feed goats and horses
• Shovel waste from the Kennel
• Light cleaning and stocking of the Visitor's Center
• Projects - painting, construction of dog houses, Kennel improvements
• Operate Dog Mushing rides
• Run the Kennel Tour, a 45-minute informational tour.
• Communicate with each individual guest for a personalized experience
• Issue medication for various animals

The Kennel Manager will be responsible for:

• Coordinating and overseeing operations for running tours
• Training and supervising other dog yard workers
• Creating work schedules
• Developing and enforcing kennel policies and procedures
• Ensuring the animals are groomed, fed, exercised, and generally cared for
• Monitoring the behavior of the animals
• Communicating with our Activities department to ensure tours are being sold and fulfilled

Requirements:

• Must know how to mush and feel comfortable enough to train it to completely inexperienced employees
• Basic veterinary know-how
• Proven leadership experience

This position offers free single-occupancy housing with a communal bathroom as well as two hot meals a day and breakfast cereals. All activities we offer our guests we encourage our employees to do as well, including access to hot springs. Employees have access to guest shuttles provided room is available
