Work Location & Schedule This is an exempt, office-based opportunity with flexibility to work from home 1 day per week depending on business needs. Travel to FM office locations across the U.S. and internationally may be required occasionally, depending on business needs. Eligibility : Applicants must live within 50 miles of Johnston, RI or Norwood, MA. Flexibility to sit in either of our offices located in Johnston, RI (preferred) or Norwood, MA with required travel to Johnston, RI as needed. Relocation is not offered for this position. Responsibilities At FM, we are seeking a Legal Operations Manager to join our legal team. The Legal Operations Manager will lead and improve the operational and strategic functions of Law & Governmental Affairs. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this individual will influence and impact processes and procedures of the legal team and drive efficiency of legal service delivery. This role is responsible for implementing and managing legal technology, vendor relationships, analytics, knowledge management, and contributing to a departmental career development framework, and cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem solver with strong analytical skills, a passion for process improvement, and experience in legal operations within a corporate environment. This role requires the skills to lead projects and change initiatives and develop positive relationships with internal team members across Law & Governmental Affairs and other departments. Your Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To. Legal Operations & Technology Manage and implement legal technology platforms (e.g., e-billing, matter management, etc.). Maintain and develop SOPs, standard methodologies, and user guides for legal systems. Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across legal workflows. Data Analysis & Planning Develop and maintain legal department metrics, dashboards, and performance indicators, including monitoring objectives. Build metrics and trends on key data points aligned to the Chief Legal Officer’s objectives and department effectiveness. Build predictive and visual analytics to support strategic decision-making. Financial & Vendor Management Contribute to legal department budgeting, forecasting and spend analysis. Coordinate vendor management, including onboarding, billing compliance, and performance evaluations. Talent, Knowledge & Capacity Development Build knowledge management systems within the department. Support hiring, onboarding, training, and knowledge management within the legal team. Build and support a career development framework. Support long-term department capacity planning regarding resource needs and allocation. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in legal operations, project management, or related roles. Legal experience highly preferred. Experience in influencing and implementing change management required. Experience in a publicly traded or highly regulated industry (e.g., insurance, financial services) preferred. Strong attention to detail to review and analyze legal service and performance data Proficiency with legal tech tools and enterprise legal management (e.g., Legal Tracker, MS Office) Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Strong abilities in project management Education Bachelor’s Degree required The position is eligible to participate in FM’s Total Rewards program, including incentive plans, health and well-being programs, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, and time off allowances.
