Liquor Store Manager Manages the daily operations of the liquor department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs being mindful of merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Monitors and controls supply expenses, manages cash control, sales and cash items and records for the liquor store. Supervises, trains, and develops team members on performance of their job and provides coaching as needed. Essential Responsibilities SERVICE (60%) – Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated that will increase customer confidence and loyalty. Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and maintained for in‑stock conditions. Delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s for freshness, quality and value. Trains department associates on inventory/stocking and computer assisted ordering. Offers assistance in finding or suggesting product selection. LEADERSHIP (20%) – Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job specific information. Assists in establishing goals for merchandising, sales and profits and empowers the team to meet or exceed the goals. Assists in managing schedules to ensure tasks are completed in a cadence that ensures the highest levels of customer service and conditions during peak hours. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines. FINANCIAL (10%) – Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, receiving products, etc.). Monitors and controls supply expenses, manages cash control, sales and cash accounting items and records for the liquor store. Maintains an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports any discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Assists in planning and organizing the inventory process. Ensures product is held at the proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs per policy. Accountable for measuring topline sales vs. plan, shrink %, inventory accuracy, merchandising plan execution, own brands penetration, OSAT results, and expense management vs. plan. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY (10%) – Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA & Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and Department of Agriculture (DOA). Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner while ensuring all items are secured and removed from customer access. Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and inspects and identifies unsafe conditions to report to store management. Reports all safety risk or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud. Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations. Cultivates a culture of safety within the store. Ensures self and all associates are working safely and have received necessary safety training. Ensures hazardous assessments are posted for associate reference and that personal protective equipment is available and utilized by all associates executing tasks within the department, as required. Ensures equipment is in good repair; reports and assists with remediation (e.g. lock‑out/tag‑out of equipment) of safety hazards within the department. Qualifications Must be 21 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same. Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check. Strong customer service skills. Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills. Knowledge of basic math. Ability to handle stressful situations. Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department. English required; Spanish preferred. 0–3 years supervisory experience. Must be 21 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Compliance with all Winn‑Dixie policies and procedures. Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently. Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same. Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check. Preferred Qualifications Previous assistant manager experience. Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department. Strong guest service skills. Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills. Job Tag Manage inventory, in‑stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, security, expense control and other operational processes to company standards. Ensure the department is merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community; maintain shelf allocations to ensure the availability of products at all times. Ensure guests greet, assist, provide efficient service and thank guests in a prompt, courteous, friendly and business‑like manner in order to promote the company image as a service‑oriented operation. Ensure the department is well maintained and meets or exceeds company standards for appearance. Supervise, train and develop guests in accordance with company policies and procedures. Evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement; reinforce strengths while developing and implementing improved practices and procedures. Conduct weekly sales meetings with guests to establish merchandising, sales and profit objectives. Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Successfully complete cashier training prior to being placed in the job function. Verify goods received are consistent with vendor’s invoice and product order; reconcile discrepancies; process invoice for payment. Verify the count and description of the merchandise on credit invoices for all merchandise being removed by vendors. Knowledge of liquor, wines and beer.
