Position Title: OD Grinder

Wage: $17.00-$19.00 per hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm

This is a 1st shift position in Rockford, IL with the opportunity for hire. 

OD Grinder Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up and operate OD grinders to grind ODs between centers or on an arbor to ensure concentricity is in tolerance.
- Setup machine using measuring equipment, setup parts, and other tools to produce parts to required tolerances.
- Use appropriate measuring equipment to inspect ground parts.
- Ensure all gages are calibrated and set accurately.
- Ensure that all parts have required stock for final centerless grinding operations.
- Effectively select setup jobs using live or dead center and between centers or on arbors.
- Grind arbors as required.
- Select appropriate jobs to run based on procedures.
- Group jobs for efficiency while maintaining operation completion dates within procedure.
- Clean all parts after completion.
- Perform routine machine maintenance (preventive maintenance).
- Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
- Log completed jobs for job tracking purposes.
- Work overtime as required to maintain production.
- Ensure careful handling of materials and tools to avoid damage.

OD Grinder Requirements:
- Ability to read a micrometer, indicator, caliper, and concentricity gage.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Must have a strong understanding of place values with decimals, along with adding and subtracting decimals.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Dedication to quality and efficiency.
- Good teamwork.
