Health Center Inc. (also known as The New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of NYC, Inc Employee Benefit Funds) is a NYC‑based healthcare organization providing ambulatory care facilities staffed with a wide range of health professionals to deliver extensive medical and diagnostic services throughout New York City. The organization serves Union members and their families by offering Primary Care, Dental, Radiological, Vision, Mental Health, and other specialist services at no cost to Union members, removing financial barriers to quality medical care. We are looking for a highly reliable Oral Surgery Assistant for our Midtown Dental Center (based in Manhattan) to help in our mission of providing top‑notch dental services to our Union members. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare the operatory room, instruments, and additional supplies for the surgical procedure. Greet and escort patients into the operatory room and prepare them for the Oral Surgeon/Periodontist by explaining the procedure and addressing concerns. Assist the Oral Surgeon/Periodontist during surgery by anticipating needs and providing necessary instruments/supplies, suctioning, irrigating, and charting as directed. Monitor vital signs and anesthesiology levels for the patient’s well‑being during the procedure. Provide post‑operative explanations and education to the patient, as instructed. Escort patients to the reception area when the procedure is completed; provide assistance when needed and may arrange for a follow‑up visit if necessary. Clean the operatory room, remove instruments and supplies, and ensure the room is ready for the next patient. Discard disposable supplies and instruments and perform autoclave testing. Mount and take X‑rays when needed; take and format Cone Beam CTs. Takes notes and documents the process for the Oral Surgeon/Periodontist as needed. Track supply inventory and order additional materials as necessary. Contribute to team effort. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED. Completion of a Dental Assistant program. Minimum 2 years of prior dental office experience assisting in oral surgeries, bone grafting, and implants. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of various surgical procedures, such as extractions, frenectotomy, torus removal, cyst removal, enameloplasty, incision and drainage, tumor removal, placement of dental implants, guided tissue regeneration, bone grafting at the time of extractions (socket preservation), bone grafting to repair a defect around an existing implant, bone grafting in conjunction with removal of a failing implant, and bone grafting for ridge augmentation. Ability to work well under pressure while handling multiple tasks. Exceptional listening and communication skills. Detail oriented. Highly organized. Displays and maintains professional behavior at all times.
