Sr Healthcare Data Analyst

Joint Commission seeks a highly skilled and motivated Sr Healthcare Data Analyst to support a growing portfolio of research and analytics initiatives that inform quality improvement, accreditation strategy, certification programs, and system-level learning. Working directly with the Vice President and Chief Research Officer as well as Research Scientists, help prepare and analyze complex health care datasets and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, technical memos, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders. This is a hands-on role requiring technical rigor, independent execution, and a strong sense of mission.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare, clean, merge, and manage health care datasets from a variety of sources.
• Extract and manipulate data from relational databases using SQL or other tools as required.
• Conduct moderately complex statistical analyses using established and novel methods under the direction of research leadership.
• Take ownership of analytical deliverables for specific research objectives within larger studies.
• Use statistical programming languages to create summary statistics, data visualizations, files for analysis, and analytic tables.
• Maintain detailed documentation of data sources, definitions, programming steps, and quality checks.
• Coordinate with research scientists and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of analytic deliverables with study objectives and timelines.
• Lead analysis of defined analytic tasks within research projects with guidance from research scientists.
• Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, technical memos, data briefs, and presentation materials.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with 5 years of relevant healthcare research experience OR Master's degree with 2-3 years of relevant healthcare research experience.
• Advanced skill in statistical programming languages such as R, Stata, or Python.
• Advanced database management skills in extracting and managing data from structured databases using SQL.
• Experience working with real-world health care data such as EHRs, claims, or quality reporting metrics.
• Knowledge of healthcare outcomes research principles and study design.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to reproducible, well-documented analytics.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience supporting research using causal inference methods.
• Experience contributing to or co-authoring peer-reviewed journal publications.
• Experience mentoring junior data analysts.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to and apply new programming and database management tools.
• Commitment to Joint Commission's mission to improve health care quality and safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience translating complex analytic findings for non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior work in a mission-driven organization or collaborative research environment.
• Application of machine learning techniques or AI tools to research questions.
