Staff Archaeologist / Archaeological Field Technician Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Field Archaeologists to support cultural resource management (CRM) projects across the Nation. This role is ideal for early to mid-career professionals passionate about archaeology, fieldwork, and preserving cultural heritage. Responsibilities Conduct archaeological field surveys, shovel testing, and excavation under the supervision of leadership. Accurately document field observations, including detailed notes, maps, and photographs. Assist with artifact identification, processing, and cataloging in both field and lab settings. Adhere to ERG's safety protocols and ethical standards in all field activities. Collaborate with diverse teams in dynamic field environments, often in remote or rugged terrain. Maintain and organize field equipment and supplies. Participate in pre-field briefings and post-field debriefs. Other duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field. At least 3 months of field experience in CRM or academic settings. Familiarity with GPS units, field mapping, and basic artifact identification. Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and hike long distances (up to 8 miles) carrying field gear. Willingness to travel to remote locations (with overnight stays) up to 100% of the time. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Valid driver's license and ability to pass security clearances and background checks. Compensation & Benefits Pay for federal contract work is based on the Service Contract Act Wage Determination applicable to the project site location. All other projects have an hourly base pay of $22.55 to $27.00. Lodging and meal stipend are based on General Services Administration rates, which are also according to project location. Lodging is always single occupancy and covered by ERG. Meal stipend is a direct deposit up front. How to Apply Join us!
