Construction Engineering Inspector

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector to assist Engineers with the completion of construction projects in our Phoenix, AZ office.

Responsibilities

1. Manage construction phase services including contract administration and construction monitoring from pre-construction through project closeout consisting of municipal/private utility type projects.
2. Construction administration responsibilities include client coordination, response to RFI's, processing of change orders, shop drawing review, construction schedule and approval of contractor pay applications
3. Monitor single or multiple site construction activities for conformance with project plans and specifications
4. Prepare field reports and photos of construction activities and site investigations
5. Troubleshoot construction issues providing alternative solutions and value engineering in collaboration with engineering staff
6. Review bid documents and technical specifications
7. Perform Constructability Reviews
8. Review or help put together Engineer Estimates for design projects going out for bid
9. Review bids on projects
10. Help evaluate and review bids and contractors
11. May provide construction observation training and mentoring of junior engineering staff
12. May conduct meetings with clients and contractors
13. Assist engineers with project permitting including permit applications and certifications

Qualifications

• High school degree/equivalent or better
• Construction Superintendent / Foreman experience or engineering inspection experience
• Strong understanding of municipal specifications, governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practices
• Must be able to read plans and specifications
• Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
• Must communicate well
• Must have a working knowledge of Word and Excel
• Willing to travel within the state of AZ
